چکیده

The database landscape has been significantly diversified during the last decade, resulting in the emergence of a variety of non-relational (also called NoSQL) databases, e.g., XML and JSON-document databases, key-value stores, and graph databases. To facilitate access to such databases and to enable data integration of non-relational data sources, we generalize the well-known ontologybased data access (OBDA) framework so as to allow for querying arbitrary databases through a mediating ontology. We instantiate this framework to MongoDB, a popular JSON-document database, and implement a prototype extension of the virtual OBDA system Ontop for answering SPARQL queries over MongoDB.

OBDA Beyond Relational DBs: A Study for MongoDB

The Bag Semantics of Ontology-Based Data Access

Ontology-based data access (OBDA) is a popular approach for integrating and querying multiple data sources by means of a shared ontology. The ontology is linked to the sources using mappings, which assign views over the data to ontology predicates. Motivated by the need for OBDA systems supporting database-style aggregate queries, we propose a bag semantics for OBDA, where duplicate tuples in t...

Ontology-Based Data Access with Databases: A Short Course

Ontology-based data access (OBDA) is regarded as a key ingredient of the new generation of information systems. In the OBDA paradigm, an ontology defines a high-level global schema of (already existing) data sources and provides a vocabulary for user queries. An OBDA system rewrites such queries and ontologies into the vocabulary of the data sources and then delegates the actual query evaluatio...

Ontop of Geospatial Databases

We propose an OBDA approach for accessing geospatial data stored in relational databases, using the OGC standard GeoSPARQL and R2RML or OBDA mappings. We introduce extensions to an existing SPARQL-to-SQL translation method to support GeoSPARQL features. We describe the implementation of our approach in the system ontopspatial, an extension of the OBDA system Ontop for creating virtual geospatia...

OBDA with the Ontop Framework

Ontology-based data access (OBDA) has become a popular paradigm for accessing data stored in legacy sources using Semantic Web technologies. In the OBDA setting, users access the data through a conceptual layer, which provides a convenient query vocabulary abstracting from specific aspects related to the data sources. This conceptual layer is typically expressed as an RDF(S) or OWL ontology, an...
